‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ has made the headlines in the history of cinematography in this pandemic era. ‘No Way Home’becomes the first pandemic-era movie to top a billion dollars at the global box office. The pandemic-era has seen a decline in the movie industry. However, new release like Godzilla vs King Kong,’ Venom: Let There Be Carnage,’ and the latest crew of Fast & Furious 9′ couldn’t jumpstart the box office after the lockdowns. The latest movie in the Spiderman franchise has also been dubbed the highest-grossing movie of 2021. This happened on Thursday, December 16, 2021, when the latest edition of Spider-Man had moviegoers flooding into theaters once again. ‘No Way Home’ racked up nearly $50 million on its premiere, according to Sony Pictures Entertainment. It surpasses Chinese-made Korean War epic-based movie, The Battle At Lake Changjin,’ which had a gross of almost $905 million.

I’m Coming Home, Or Is It Too Far?

‘No Way Home’ had the third-highest preview in Hollywood history, behind ‘Avengers: Endgame’ (which racked up $60 million), and ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ (which racked up $57 million). The last movie to gross more than $1 billion at the box office was ’Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ in 2019, according to the media data analytics firm Comscore. For the records, there’s no other Hollywood movie production to reached this box office milestone during this pandemic-era since 2019.

‘No Way Home’ owes a big thank you to two personalities: Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige. These two have always been involved with the creation and production of the ‘Spider-Man’ sequels. Pascal — who has been the top movie executive at Sony Pictures since 1999 through 2015 — was responsible for the first five live-action ’Spider-Man’ movies. She also produced the recent three movies. Feige — currently the president of Marvel Studios — has been the mastermind during the early years of the sequels, and the producer of the last three movies.

There’s No Way Home

‘No Way Home’ was written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, directed by Jon Watts, produced by Marvel Studios, alongside Columbia Pictures, and distributed by Sony Pictures Entertainment. It marks the end of the trilogy starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker, and Zendaya as Mary Jean — Peter’s plucky next door girlfriend. This ‘Spider-Man’ movie represents a 20-year-long culmination of the ‘Spider-Man’ sequels — eight movies in all. It reunites all characters who are yet unseen since Spider-Man III’ in 2007, and The Amazing Spider-Man II’ in 2014.

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ is the final sequel to ’Homecoming’ from 2017 and ’Far From Home’ from 2019, making it the 27th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Here’s what to expect: the movie starts when Peter Parker (Tom Holland) asks Dr Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to use magic to make his Spiderman identity a secret again following its public revelation at the end of ‘Far From Home.’ Spoiler alert: the spell goes wrong, and what happens next is what you have to see in the movie. The Factionary isn’t a cinema.
