#1. Tesla Was Named After A Scientist

Serbian-born American scientist Nikola Tesla’s inventions were ahead-of-their-time inventions. His alternative current electrical supply system is widely adopted worldwide. The car company Tesla Motors was named after the inventor because the company makes use of alternating current (AC) induction motors which is an architecture the Serbian scientist developed.

According to Musk, [Nikola] Tesla deserves “a little more play than he gets in current society.”

#2. Tesla Is Not A “Normal” Company

Tesla actively encourages its employees to avoid nonsensical company rules. Employees are also allowed to take paid vacations as long as they get the work done. Again, when new employees join the team they a handed a handbook named “ANTI-HANDBOOK HANDBOOK” which is written in an informal language even though it’s an official document of the company. Elon Musk believes that large-format meetings waste people’s time and meetings should be infrequent unless a matter is urgent.

“Excessive meetings are the blight of big companies and almost always get worse over time. Please get rid of all large meetings, unless you’re certain they are providing value to the whole audience, in which case keep them very short,” he said last year in an email obtained by Jalopnik.

Musk’s goal is to make the working environment friendly and conducive for their workers to maintain high productivity levels. Judging from the success of the company so far, it’s quite evident that he achieved it through their management practices.

#3. Tesla Owns The Gigafactory

Tesla’s purpose is to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy by making electric automobiles and energy products increasingly affordable. For Tesla to produce the number of cars they want to, they would need the entire supply of the world’s lithium-ion batteries. To solve this problem, they built a factory that produces lithium batteries for their cars and helps them meet their vehicle supply demand. The factory is named Gigafactory.
