The remarkable cells that make up your nervous system are called neurons. They act as miniature messengers, transporting data from one location to another. They are capable of speaking, listening, and even modifying their behavior in reaction to what they hear. What Are Neurons?
Neurons are the basic building elements of the complex neurological system. They are cells that may send crucial signals all over our body. Imagine a neuron as a beautiful tree with a similar structure.
The cell body acts in the same way that the strong trunk that supports the neuron does. The axon conveys information away from the cell body in the same way that the main branch does. Dendrites are microscopic branches that discreetly pick up messages sent by other neurons. Dendrites are vital in this process. They gather data from other neurons and send it to the cell body.

How Neurons Work
Electrical impulses are used by neurons to communicate with one another. A neuron transmits a signal up its axon when it receives an electrical impulse. The signal travels to the end of the axon before being released into the space between neurons. This region is referred to as the synapse.

Neurotransmitters are chemicals that allow messages to be transmitted from one neuron to another across the synapse. Neurotransmitters bind to receptors on the other neuron, causing an electrical impulse to be fired.
The nervous system works by sending information from one neuron to the next. Neurons communicate with one another to control our thoughts, emotions, movements, and bodily processes.
The Nervous System
The two basic components of the nervous system are the central nervous system (CNS) and the peripheral nervous system (PNS). The CNS is made up of the brain and the spinal cord. The PNS includes all of the nerves that connect the CNS to the rest of the body.

The CNS is in charge of processing information and generating motor commands. The PNS is responsible for transmitting information from the CNS to the muscles and other organs.

Many illnesses can have an impact on the neurological system. Among the most frequent disorders are: Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, stroke, and spinal cord injury. These disorders can cause a wide range of symptoms, including memory loss, movement problems, seizures, and paralysis.
